Slingshot Mobile FAQ
How do I activate my SIM card?
The Slingshot SIM is easy to set up. Just snap out the right size, dial 6886 to activate it and then register it in My Slingshot Mobile.
Can I use my current mobile number?
You sure can! All the details you need to transfer your number are on the sleeve of the SIM card. Once you activate the SIM and register it in My Slingshot Mobile, you can complete the form to transfer your number. The transfer should complete within 2 - 4 business hours.
Does my mobile data roll over?
Any unused data on your base mobile plan rolls over to the next month, for up to 12 months. Handy! Purchased add-on data will always be consumed first, followed by rollover data, and then the data in your current month’s base plan.
What if I need more data or minutes?
You can purchase additional data or NZ and Australia calling minutes in My Slingshot Mobile. These add-ons do not roll over and will expire after 30 days if unused.
Why have I been charged twice on one bill for the same mobile plan?
Our mobile plans are billed every 30 days, so slightly more frequent than monthly. If your Slingshot bill is sent monthly, you may occasionally get two bills on the same monthly statement – although this will be rare.
Please Note
- You can't use Txt to Park or call an 0900 number on our services.
- If you can't change your plan or buy any add-ons, give our team a call on 0800 89 2000.

Your monthly IFO instalments will depend on the price of the mobile device and accessory you select at the time you sign up to the IFO.
- Your monthly IFO instalments will be added to your Bill and will be charged in addition to your Plan fee or any other charges incurred under your Slingshot Account.
- A minimum upfront payment may be required to sign up to the IFO. This amount may vary depending on the IFO eligible mobile device and accessory and the IFO eligible Plan that you choose, and may be varied by Slingshot from time to time. - If you downgrade your IFO eligible Plan to a IFO non-eligible Plan you must immediately pay us the balance outstanding on your IFO (if any). This will at all times be at Slingshot’s discretion.
- If you downgrade your IFO eligible Plan to another IFO eligible Plan, your monthly IFO repayments will be carried over to the new Plan.
- The immediate repayment of the balance outstanding on your IFO triggered in accordance with clauses 10 and 11 will be in addition to any early termination charges or plan transfer charges that may be applicable to your Plan. For the avoidance of doubt the balance outstanding on your IFO will be the price of the eligible mobile device (at the time of sign up to the IFO) minus any handset subsidy, your upfront payment on the IFO and any IFO monthly repayments received by Slingshot.
- An IFO cannot be transferred between customers or a change of ownership processed. In such cases the IFO must be settled in full by the exiting customer.
