If the house is unoccupied for up to 60 consecutive days, the house will still be covered and you won’t need to notify us. However, if your house is unoccupied for more than 60 days, an additional excess may apply if its been unoccupied for an extended period of time.

Yes. If your house is damaged in an earthquake or natural disaster, our House Insurance covers you up to your sum insured for the cost to repair or rebuild your house. This includes some cover for retaining walls. If you have extensive garden retaining walls, a swimming pool or a tennis court you'll need to tell us about these, otherwise they won't be covered.
No. Contents Insurance only covers your items while they’re travelling within New Zealand. While they’re in New Zealand, you’re covered for loss or damage of your stuff up to $5,000 under our Essential policy, and up to the sum insured you choose under our Everyday and Everyday Plus policies.
All of our Contents policies cover mobile phones with up to $500 cover on our Essential Policy, up to $1,000 on our Everyday Policy and there's no limit on our Everyday Plus Policy.
If you have our Everyday or Everyday Plus policy and you need more cover on your phone, just let us know and we’ll increase the limit on your policy for an additional premium.
Yes. Our Contents policies cover your prescription glasses, sunglasses and contacts. We will repair or replace them if they are damaged, lost or stolen.
If you have an Essential Contents policy, you will be required to pay your excess. For Everyday or Everyday Plus Contents policies, claims for these items have a reduced excess of $100.
